MISSION AND GOALS

THE MISSION OF THE MANSFIELD MIDDLE SCHOOL COUNSELING PROGRAM IS TO IMPART SKILLS AND FACILITATE LEARNING OPPORTUNITIES IN AN ACTIVE AND PREVENTIVE MANNER THAT ENSURES ALL STUDENTS CAN ACHIEVE SCHOOL SUCCESS THROUGH ACADEMIC, CAREER, AND PERSONAL/SOCIAL DEVELOPMENT EXPERIENCES.

GOAL 1:  The MMS Counseling Program will foster academic development to include attitudes, knowledge, and skills that assist students with effective learning in school and throughout life; employing strategies to achieve success in school; and understanding the relationship of academics to the world of work, life at home, and in the community.

GOAL 2:  The MMS Counseling Program will foster career development to include acquiring skills, attitudes, and knowldege that enables students to make successful transitions from middle school to high school and from high school to post-secondary education and/or the world of work.

GOAL 3:  The MMS Counseling Program will foster personal/social development to include acquiring skills, attitudes, and knowledge to promote in students understanding and respect for self and others, effective interpersonal skills, and the understanding of safety and survival skills that allows students to develop into contributing members of society.
