Elementary Principal
I graduated from Alma High School in 1990 as Valedictorian.
I started college at the University of Arkansas and then transferred to the University of North Texas after I got married and my husband graduated at got a position with Texas Intruments. I received my degree in Early Childhood Education in 1996.
In 2005 I received my degree in Educational Technology from the University of Arkansas.
In 2017 I received the TEACH Grant and received my Masters in Reading from Arkansas State in 2018 in Reading.
In 2019 I received the IMPACT Fellowship from the University of Arkansas and received my Masters in Leadership in 2021.
I will finish my Specialist degree in Leadership from Arkansas Tech this December and will start my doctoral work in the summer of 2024.
I am certified as a Reading Specialist and Dyslexia Interventionist.
I am a National Board certified teacher in Early and Middle Childhood Literacy.
I have attended RISE training for K-2 and grades 3-5. I am also a certified RISE Assessor.
I have attended numerous workshops and conferences on literacy and leadership.
Last year I worked extensively with coaches from Solution Tree in implementing Professional Learning Communities.
I am currently in Cohort 2 for Highly Effective School Leaders.
I can’t wait for the 2023-2024 school year to begin so I can start my new journey here at Mansfield Elementary as the new principal!
I started teaching in 1996. My first year was spent teaching 2nd grade transition at Cedarville Elementary. I taught there for 22 years. During that time I taught 2nd grade for a year, 1st grade for 7 years, 4th grade for 13 years, and 3rd grade for a year. I was also the technology coordinator for 12 years and the after school site coordinator for the last 5 years I was there.
I spent the last 2 years at Mountainburg Middle School as Principal.
I have been married to my husband, Terry, for 31 years. We met in college and married in 1992. We have two children. My daughter, Sydney, has a dregree in Finance from the U of A and is a credit analyst for Arvest Bank in Springdale. My son, Joshua, graduated this year from the U of A with a degree in Sports Management. He spent his college time working with the Razorback football team. He is now doing his graduate work at UCA. We have 5 cats, Marley, Bella, Sophie, Lily, and Zoey. My husband and I both grew up in Alma. We moved back to Alma in 2009 and both of our kids graduated from there.
When I am not in school, I enjoy spending time at home with my family. My hobbies include reading for fun, catching up on Netflix, and playing games occasionally on Xbox or PS4.
