This is my first year at Mansfield Elementary. I have 30 years of experience teaching special education in different areas.
My previous experience includes 7 years at Matthews Elementary in Dollarway District of Pine Bluff, Arkansas which included self-contained and resource classrooms. I spent 14 years teaching my own children while consulting with parents of special needs children who were homeschooling or advocating for their child. During my time as full-time mom I operated a home daycare, sold Discovery Toys and substitued at public schools while home schooling my own children. When I returned to working outside the home I spent almost a year counseling pregnant girls, teaching childcare/parenting and caring for these new babies at Melton Developmental Center at Ozark, Arkansas. I transferred to Franklin County Learning Center at Ozark to supervise the preschool/nursery department consisting of 12 students who some were developmentally disabled. My job emerged to a lead preschool teacher as our center numbers grew. After 10 years in the Early childhood at FCLC I transferred to the school age program where I taught K-12 self-contained classroom. I taught the K-12 classrooms with 4 paraprofessionals for 2 ½ years before the board closed our department at the end of 2016-2017 school year.
My husband and I have been married for 30 years. We are the legal parents of 10 children ranging from the ages of 6-37 years and 4 of the sweetest grandchildren. We have been blessed to have become parents to 5 children through birth and 5 have been born through foster to adopt. We continue to foster within the state of Arkansas ministering to hundreds of children over the years. Our biological chilren have all graduated from our homeschool program then going on to attend the secondary vocational training of their choice. They all make us proud in their own way with the contribution to family, community and church. Our daily ministry continues to expand as we work through our church, family and foster family that comes back to us. We would love to talk more about our ministries or family when you want additional information.
My family is the center of my world outside of school. My husband and I have been married for 35 years. We served as foster family for 8 years and adopted 5 our of the system. We are the parents to 10 children ranging from 12-44 and we have 7 grand treasures ranging from being born this year to 11 years. My spare time ranges from sewing, crafts, gardening and camping. We remain active members in our church where we serve in many capacities.
