Tiger Stripes Earned by Young Track Team

Posted Date: 04/18/2019

Mansfield rolled into Waldron on April 8 with a small crew of seventh grade track athletes. They cruised out with the individual high point award, a runner-up plaque, and a backpack full of ribbons.

Kynslee Ward, Mansfield’s most dominate seventh grader this season, ran away with the high point award in the girls division. The high jumper, long jumper, hurdler, and relay anchor scored 44 points for her third such award this season.

Harlie Fuller, another Lady Tiger stalwart, continued the point parade for Mansfield with 28 points. The second leading scorer for Mansfield throughout most of the year earned her high marks in the pole vault, hurdles, and relays.

Collectively the total team effort by Mansfield accumulated 167 points to nab the runner-up plaque at the Waldron Bulldog Seventh Grade Relays. Mena squeaked by the Tigers with 172.5 points for the team win.

Ward won the both the 100m hurdles (18.55) and 300m hurdles (55.36). She also placed first in the high jump (4-4) and long jump (14-5). She anchored second place finishes in both the 4x100m and 4x400m relays.

Fuller won the pole vault (6-0) and placed second in the 300m hurdles (57.34). She was third in the 100m hurdles (19.32) and was part of both sprint relays.

Mansfield’s scoring got another boost from Eden Mounts. The multi-talented runner tallied 27 points through two sprint races, high jump, long jump, and one relay.

Katelyn Corson took the tough points with a second place mark in both the 400m dash (1:12.35) and 4x400m relay. She also placed modest marks in the shot, discus, and 100m dash.

Alexis Chestine, Raine Hecox, Rachel Johnson, Taryn Lunsford, Kadence Mathisen, and Emile Nelson rounded out the scoring for the MMS prep team.

For the boys, Peyton Martin led the team with a pole vault win (7-6) and solid marks in the hurdles and two sprint relays.

Zach Hayslip, Donovan Walker, and Ethan Walker covered the sprint points for the Tiger boys. Sammy Sellers, Dakota Langford, and Turner Wright placed in the throws.

The Mansfield men were short handed as injury and illness handcuffed their normal production.

The Waldron meet was the last prep match for the Mansfield seventh grade this season.
